Lawyers Agree with Finlayson on Legal Training
Kiwi Lawyers Agree with Attorney General Finlayson on Legal Training – But Only Just
LawFuel.co.nz - The NZ Legal Jobs & News site reports a poll of lawyers on the legal jobs site shows that most agree with Attorney General Chris Finlayson that court lawyers need more training (42 per cent) compared to 37 per cent who say the Attorney General overstates his case.
Mr Finlayson's recent speech to the Bar Association castigated lawyers who were ill-prepared or badly trained in areas like court etiquette and procedure. The Law Society has already introduced new measures to require barristers to obtain further experience before practising at the bar as barristers sole.
Eighteen per cent of the LawFuel.co.nz poll said the situation was manageable.
