Women – Working for Free for the Rest of the Year

Issued on behalf of the Pay Equity Challenge Coalition:

Women – Working for Free for the Rest of the Year

Debt collection:
Midland Park, Lambton Quay, Wellington
12.30pm Wednesday 18 November
Giant invoice to be issued

Women subsidise the economy by nearly $4 billion a year!

New Zealand women earn at least 12% less (in average hourly earnings) than men. It’s as if from 18 November until the end of the year women are working for free.

Nearly 1 million people miss out on almost $4,000 million in wages every year – just because they are women.

Members of the Pay Equity Challenge Coalition (disguised as debt collectors) will assemble at 12.30 on Wednesday 18 November at Wellington’s Midland Park to issue a giant invoice for $4 billion to the Ministry of Labour, Ministry for Women, Business New Zealand and anyone else who has the power to bring about women’s pay equity.
