For Immediate Release

Southern Alps Climate Forum

Wanaka, New Zealand – December 2, 2009 –Logic Funds Management and Sustainable Wanaka have collaborated efforts to hold the first Southern Alps Climate Forum at Mt Aspiring College on December 10, 2009 from 6:30 – 9:00 PM. With the approach of the Copenhagen Climate Summit and the recent release of New Zealand’s Emissions Trading Scheme, it is apparent that big decisions are being made about the future that will have major affects on our lives.

The panel discussion will feature five individuals with backgrounds ranging from economics to education. In attendance will be, Greg Marshall (Logic Funds Management), Sue Coutts (Wanaka Waste Busters), Ella Lawton (The Centre for Sustainable Practice), Reverend Denis Bartley (Sustainable Wanaka Trustee) and Simon Williams (Enviro Schools).

Greg Marshall, a key driver of the event stated, “The goal of the forum is to find practical solutions for the community in order to prepare for the problems that loom ahead such as Peak Oil. Climate Change is inevitable and without adapting now we will be forced into changes that could have severely adverse effects.”

Sophie Ward, the Manager of Sustainable Wanaka and another event collaborator believes the event is essential to finding community solutions and is pleased with the speakers that came forward.

The event is open to all community members and is aimed at innovative solutions for Wanaka as a whole. A gold coin donation is suggested and more details can be found at SustainableWanaka.co.nz.
