Capital and Coast DHB needs more funding not further cuts
“The Government should use Thursday’s budget to show a commitment to healthcare by significantly re-investing in Capital and Coast DHB, we cannot afford to face further cuts in funding and services, said David Choat, Capital and Coast Board member elected under the banner of Care not Cuts.
“We have rates of rheumatic fever that are shameful and hefty doctor charges that already make healthcare unaffordable for many. Without an increase in funding, these will just get worse.”
“We are already starting to hear about organisations that do important work in the community facing funding cuts by the DHB. These cuts will be most strongly felt by the poor, the elderly and the young, they must be reversed.”
“Unless there is a significant re-investment in health in Thursday’s budget, I will be urging the Capital and Coast DHB Board to call for answers from the Minister of Health Tony Ryall about how we are expected to do more with less.”
