Persecution of Chinese Falun Gong Practitioners in China

Media Release
16 July 2011

From: Falun Dafa Association of New Zealand Inc.

To Commemorate the 12 years Persecution of Chinese Falun Gong Practitioners in China

The Falun Dafa Association of New Zealand (Inc.) will hold an event today, at 12:30pm, 16 July 2011,at Queen Elizabeth II Square, in downtown Auckland, to commemorate the 12 years persecution of Chinese Falun Gong practitioners in China at the hands of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). That persecution started from 20 July 1999 and has been well-documented by independent organizations such as Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, and the United States Department of State among others. Since then the CCP has subjected Falun Gong practitioners in China to illegal arrest, unlawful detention, brainwashing, torture and in some cases live organ harvesting. The event that will be held is designed to call upon the attention of the public to the fact of this persecution, and to encourage them to join in support of the call for the end of the persecution and for the CCP to respect the fundamental human rights of Falun Gong practitioners in China.

We warmly extend an invitation to you to attend the event. Speakers will present their speeches from 12:30pm.

Green Party Spokesperson: Mr Keith Locke
Amnesty International Spokesperson: Ms Margret Taylor
President of the Auckland Council Civil Libertiesl: Mr Barry Wilson
MC: Mr Kerry Gore Human Rights lawyer
