AFFCO mediation to resume Monday

Following a settlement conference today at the Employment Court in Auckland, the parties have agreed to resume mediation for a collective agreement on Monday 30 April and Tuesday 1 May. The union will continue to pursue its legal action including for an interim injunction challenging the lawfulness of the lock out and will be seeking a fixture as soon as possible.

“This dispute could end today if the company would take a more moderate approach to the bargaining and realise that it has a good loyal team of workers that simply want security around the amount they get paid week to week,” Meatworkers Union Aotearoa branch Secretary Graham Cooke said today.
