Victim advocate supports bill to ban gang patches

The Sensible Sentencing Trust is supporting a bill by Rotorua M P Todd McLay that will prohibit gang members wearing patches in Government premises.

Trust Spokesman, Garth McVicar said the Bill was long overdue as gangs served no legitimate purpose in society and the public had a right to be protected from their intimidation and anti-social behaviour.

‘We see this bill as being very instrumental in the ongoing battle to reduce crime and victimization, gangs have no role and no place in a modern, safe New Zealand law abiding citizens want to live and raise children in.”

We congratulate Todd McLay for having the courage to put this bill forward and urge all Politcal Parties and individual M P’s to support the bill.
