ANZ waives money transfer fees to cyclone-hit Samoa and Fiji

ANZ New Zealand will waive fees for international money transfers to Fiji and Samoa for the rest of the year in support of clean-up and rehabilitation efforts in the wake of Cyclone Evan.

The cyclone has left a path of destruction after it swept through the two Pacific nations, causing a number of deaths and destroying homes and vital infrastructure.

Designed to assist the flow of donations or payments from New Zealand-based relatives to Fiji and Samoa, the fee waiver will apply to all transfers made by ANZ Internet Banking from today.

ANZ Managing Director Retail, Kerri Thompson, said: “We recognise the devastation caused by Cyclone Evan and the major challenges faced by both Fiji and Samoa in its aftermath. By waiving fees we aim to support the flow of urgently needed cash and relief to ensure it gets to the people of Fiji and Samoa so they can start rebuilding their lives.”

ANZ has the most extensive network of branches in the Pacific.
