Kātahi anō te tīwaiwaka ka tangi, he mate anō kua tau.

Te Hunga Rōia Māori o Aotearoa / The Māori Law Society acknowledges the passing today of Labour MP Parekura Horomia.

He uri nō Ngāti Porou, Te Aitanga a Hauiti, Ngāti Kahungunu me Ngāi Tahu.

Mr Horomia entered Parliament in 1999 as a successful candidate in the Ikaroa-Rawhiti seat, which he has held to the present day. He was Minister of Māori Affairs from 2000 - 2008.

We acknowledge the significant contribution Mr Horomia made during a lifetime of service to Māori communities both in and out of Parliament. He was a truly inspirational Māori leader and our thoughts are with his whānau at this time.

E te matua, kua whetūrangitia, e moe, e oki.
