Mr Hone Harawira spits at food in schools for children

Mr Hone Harawira spits at food in schools for children

Mr Hone Harawira spits at food in schools for children, he makes the most noise, expects the most in return and is still able to insult all of those who give, all of those that lift their fingers further than their tongues, Mr Hone Harawira is the ultimate spoilt little child that while pretending to stand up for others is actually insulting, embarrassing and the biggest thespian in parliament and the media.  What is missing from Mr Harawira is mana, the ability to  conduct oneself professionally will either strengthen their own personal mana,  or weaken it.  Mr Harawira spits at what is put on the table and yet wants to be heard, he is no better than a small child whose parents have let him down.  The difference is a small child does not know any better

Having visited over 20 thousand children in schools with the Kids Can Cook Kitchen all around NZ over the last 6 months there is certainly a growing inability for some parents to provide the basics in life and I am not just talking about breakfast.

Some of the best Schools that I have visited include

Epuni School - Lower Hutt - The best School Garden in New Zealand

Te Wainui a Rua School - Whanganui - Most remote school with Mana

Mohaka School - Hawkes Bay - Respect, Respect, Respect

Manurewa Intermediate - Auckland - The most encouraging school

While some schools have now been given funding and organisations such as Kids Can work with corporates like Fonterra and Sanitarium to provide basic breakfast the problem itself is neither the governments, schools or cooperates to resolve.  The problem sits with parents. These parents may indeed be economically challenged at this time and place but unfortunately it is not just money that is a issue, it is basic parental responsibilities of teaching children about respect, self-improvement and discipline, motivation, love and manners.   This can be summed up into one very basic fact of meeting the child’s everyday needs – everyday!

I have visited many different decile schools in many different regions all around NZ and the number one ingredients missing from our children is respect, mana, self-esteem and self-belief.   The ability to believe that one can make a difference, that one can rise above basic problems in life that are not so different than any other generations. Every generation has faced hurdles before them and none more so than our grandparents and great grandparents who were bought up during the war and depression.  Food was not common on the table and life was real unlike the world we live in today which is over complicated by the non-essential things but yet are deemed to be a necessity.

The number one non-essential thing that our children need today is Mr Hone Harawira spitting on them and the people who are putting the food on the table, spitting on those that have in the past helped support other people’s children, those that have made a commitment to continue to help other people’s children even though there primary caregivers have chosen not to themselves. I look at Epuni School in Lower Hut and I see their school garden, I see the difference in the children’s eyes as they are all involved in something special, the sowing of future seeds,  I see the difference in the fact that they are been given the tools in life to be able to look after themselves in the future.  I see the respect and mana in their eyes that if you  give  a child a breakfast then you feed them for a day. Teach a child how to grow and cook and you feed them for a lifetime
