CPAG members gather for AGM in Auckland this week

Child Poverty Action Group members gather for AGM in Auckland this week.

Child Poverty Action Group hold their AGM on Wednesday July 31st at the Western Springs Garden Community Hall and welcome all to attend.

CPAG convenor Assoc. Professor Mike O'Brien says the annual event is a wonderful opportunity for the national group to come together, take stock and review work carried out over the past year.

"There has been much progress in the work we undertake, from the research and presentations carried out to educate about Child Poverty and increase the awareness of this issue. Support for CPAG has grown considerably and despite the abysmal response from the government to seriously address Child Poverty it has been pleasing to see individuals and organisations getting in behind CPAG to eliminate Child Poverty."

Guest speaker Patsy Henderson Watt (QSM) Director of the Miriam Centre for Child Abuse Treatment and Research will take to the podium at the AGM tomorrow evening. The Centre serves the wider Northland region and is spearheading a collaborative, inter-agency approach to help break cycles of child abuse and violence. Henderson Watt is a senior clinician and therapist who was part of the first collective nomination for the Nobel Peace Prize in 2006.

The CPAG AGM gets underway Wednesday July 31st at 6.30pm at the Western Springs Garden Community Hall, 956 Great North Road Western Springs, Auckland.
