Francisco Hernandez Announces Dunedin City Council Bid
Francisco Hernandez says it is an honour to stand for election to the Dunedin City Council.
Mr Hernandez confirmed today that he will contest the Dunedin Central Ward as an independent candidate.
"I'm standing because I'm passionate about the people of Dunedin, and I believe I can make a real difference by providing an independent voice for young people, building connections between the city and tertiary institutions and promoting job creation through regional development. " Mr Hernandez says.
"I want to be an effective and independent advocate for the issues that students and the wider public care about: creating jobs through regional development, upgrading Dunedin’s housing stock, ensuring that the positive aspects of scarfie culture are kept and making sure that Dunedin retains it’s premier spot as the education capital of New Zealand. " Mr Hernandez says.
"Over the next two months, I will outline my positive vision for the city and a policy platform to see that vision through.
"My track record on the University Council and as the Otago University Students' Association President is strong leadership, fiscal responsibility, and proven results. I would be privileged if Dundenites gave me the opportunity to bring these strengths to our Council."
