News media release
For immediate release

23 April 2014

Last chance to have your say on regional council’s Draft Annual Plan 2014/15

Submissions close on Greater Wellington Regional Council’s Draft Annual Plan at 4pm on Monday 28 April, so there are just are five days left to make your voice heard.

The Plan sets out GWRC’s 2014/15 financial year work programme, which includes a range of projects that will positively affect most of us, such as:

• improving public transport throughout the region, and working towards bus rapid transit in Wellington
• raising stopbanks to provide protection from flooding, especially in the Hutt Valley
• working collaboratively to protect our environment and improve water quality in our streams and rivers
• upgrading regional park facilities and encouraging more people to use them.

We also propose rationalising the treatment and supply of drinking water through combining our water supply operations with the councils of Wellington City, Lower Hutt, Upper Hutt and Porirua through a new integrated water services company.

Getting more information on the Draft Annual Plan and the combined water services proposal, or making a submission, is convenient and easy.

Just visit http://www.gw.govt.nz/draft-annual-plan-2014-15/ or write to Greater Wellington Regional Council, Draft Annual Plan Submissions 2014/15, Freepost 3156, PO Box 11646, Wellington 6142.

To make a submission on the integrated water services company proposal, please mark your submission as Water Proposal and send it to the same address.

Alternatively, use the online form at http://www.gw.govt.nz/draft-annual-plan-2014-15/
