Minister congratulated on withdrawal of legal highs

Sensible Sentencing congratulates Minister on withdrawal of legal highs

The Sensible Sentencing Trust is congratulating the Associate Minister of Health on his announcement today that the government will pass urgent legislation to remove from sale all so called ‘legal highs’.

But Trust Spokesman, Garth McVicar is asking, “Why does it take so long for something so sensible to prevail.”

“While we are grateful common sense has prevailed in this instance, the question must be asked why it took so long.”

“As I have said previously If our M P’s genuinely represented the interests of their constituents they would have taken action long ago to stop this nonsense.

Mr Dunne said today he will bring to parliament amending legislation to remove legal highs, to be introduced and passed through all stages under urgency on 8 May and come into force the day after receiving the Royal Assent” says Mr Dunne.

Mr McVicar said this issue, more than most, shows how out of touch our so-called political representatives have become.

“Many young people, and their families lives have been destroyed, this debacle should never have happened.”
