DSC selects Katherine Ransom for Waikato

Matamata-based copywriter Katherine Ransom, is standing as the Waikato electorate candidate for the Democrats for Social Credit Party.

Although a relative newcomer to the Waikato - ‘only’ 11 years residence - Katherine is firmly settled in Matamata. She has been active in the community, with five years as a Citizens Advice volunteer and strong interest in several local campaigns including School Bus Road Safety and a newly formed Transition Town effort.

Her concern for the region and its people prompted Katherine to stand for the Matamata Community Board in the local body election before last. Although she wasn’t elected, she was gratified to receive enough votes to get her deposit back.

Katherine is the Democrats for Social Credit Party spokesman for social issues and housing, and the Party’s vice president. She has a deep desire for fairness and justice that drives her political convictions.

Katherine’s wider community responsibilities include her role as the Economics Convener for National Council of Women NZ.
