ACT guilty of embarrassing Epsom

Regardless of Banks judgment, ACT guilty of embarrassing Epsom

“Regardless of whether the court determines that John Banks’ behaviour has crossed the threshold to criminal behaviour today, both he and the ACT Party are guilty of once again embarrassing the Epsom electorate”, says Michael Wood, Labour candidate for Epsom.

“We must not forget that John Banks is (nominally) the current ACT MP for Epsom. While we await the trial outcome, we can be certain that Mr Banks’ behaviour has been an utter embarrassment to the people of Epsom who elected him to his $140,000 job three years ago. Instead of focussing on the people of Epsom, Mr Banks has spent three years consumed with his own personal situation, and going to preposterous lengths to pretend that he has forgotten about his interactions with the very un-forgettable Kim Dotcom”

“This is just the latest in a long line of ACT embarrassing Epsom. Last term it was perk buster Rodney Hide getting busted for perks himself, earlier this year it was the new ACT Leader waxing lyrical about brothers and sisters taking their relationships to a new level, and now the farce of the Banks trial has confirmed the point – ACT is a political joke that has come to the end of its useful life”

“ACT only exists because of the Epsom rort. Having been gifted a parliamentary seat, they have proceeded to focus on themselves rather than Epsom. Labour says that we should end the ‘coat tailing’ system that allows the rort and get back to a situation in which Epsom voters simply vote for the party and the candidate they think will best serve the community”

“The Banks trial has been good for one thing – confirming that ACT is a joke and no longer fit to serve in Epsom or our parliament”, says Michael Wood.
