Mana Party Using Taxpayer Funds for Election Hoardings

MEDIA RELEASE

Mana Party Using Taxpayer Funds for Election Hoardings

23 JULY 2014
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Reacting to the photograph posted on the WhaleOil website of a Te Tai Tokerau electorate hoarding featuring Mana Party leader Hone Harawira, which carries the House of Representatives crest and appears to have been funded by taxpayers, Jordan Williams, Executive Director of the Taxpayers’ Union says:

“This is an outrageous use of taxpayer money. Election hoardings are supposed to be funded by party members and supporters, not paid for using money meant for public services. No New Zealander should be forced to pay for political campaigns they do not support.”

“This appears to be Labour’s illegal pledge card all over again and precisely why Parliamentary Service spending should be opened up to the Official Information Act."
