ACT announces Helensville candidate Phelan Pirrie

Press release ACT New Zealand
August 13, 2014. 8:50pm

ACT Leader Jamie Whyte is pleased to confirm ACT’s candidate for Helensville, Phelan Pirrie.

“Phelan is committed to the Helensville community and has agreed to grow ACT’s party vote in the electorate,” says Mr Whyte.

Phelan lives in Muriwai, is a shareholder of a horticultural marketing company based in Kumeu and is an active community volunteer. He is currently an elected member of the Rodney Local Board, alongside fellow ACT candidate Beth Houlbrooke.

“I have always felt that as a country we should respect the hard work of individuals, and I am a strong believer in private property rights,” says Phelan.

“ACT has clear plans to grow the economy by lowering and flattening taxes. I’m looking forward to driving these ideas home in Helensville.

“Red tape and poorly-thought out regulation is stifling innovation. I’ve had first-hand experience of this in business and now in local government. ACT will continue to push for regulatory reform.

“Giving your party vote to ACT is the best way to retain a stable government that values freedom, choice, and personal responsibility.”
