On Demand for Jordan Williams to Resign

On Demand for Jordan Williams to Resign

Responding to Mana News’ demand for the immediate resignation of Jordan Williams from the Taxpayers’ Union, Co-founder David Farrar says:

“We’ve reviewed the material on the 'fair and balanced' Mana News website and are comfortable with our Executive Director’s actions.”

Mana News has alleged that the Taxpayers’ Union is partisan because Mr Williams apparently hasn’t commented on stories related to Mike Sabin, Claudette Hauiti, Judith Collins and Melissa Lee.

“While Mana News editors may not listen to Newstalk ZB, they will be pleased to know that Jordan was interviewed on the Sabin resignation only on Monday,” says Mr Farrar.

“They also might want to subscribe to the New Zealand Herald. Back in July it reported on the Taxpayers’ Union calls for Ms Hauiti to pay back the taxpayer money she used for a holiday to Australia."

“We encourage Mana News editors to check out our website more often too. There, Chairman John Bishop blogged on the Judith Collins Oravida affair while it was unfolding.”

On the criticism that the Taxpayers’ Union did not comment on the Melissa Lee issue regarding New Zealand on Air funding, Jordan Williams says:

“The Taxpayers’ Union launched in October 2013 to fight government waste. While some say we issue too many press statements, we're sorry that Mana News feel aggrieved that we didn’t offer comment on a story from May 2009. We think that with more resources we could do a better job and invite Mr Minto and Mr Harawira to donate at taxpayers.org.nz.”
