New opportunities for Relationships Aotearoa clinical staff

5 June 2015

Relationships Aotearoa (RA) and Stand Children’s Services Tū Māia have worked together to provide RA’s clinical staff an opportunity of a new fixed term role with Stand once their employment ends RA.

Relationships Aotearoa will close its doors at 5:00pm next Tuesday 9 June.

Stand Children’s Services Chief Executive, Dr Fiona Inkpen, says her organisation values the work of Relationships Aotearoa and wants to ensure their services are not lost to the social sector.

“We want to ensure the continuity of services to Ministry of Social Development clients and of the skills and expertise of staff, especially in the work they do with vulnerable children and their families,” says Dr Inkpen.

“We will offer the opportunity of a new position to RA clinical staff who want to join Stand. The positions will be fixed-term for one year which will give us a chance to work with the MSD and shape this resource to continue to meet the needs of our communities.”

Relationships Aotearoa Chief Executive Jacqui Akuhata-Brown says she is pleased this opportunity has been presented to clinical staff.

“While we’re all deeply saddened by RA’s closure, it is good news that clinical staff have this option offered to them by Stand for the next 12 months.

“Any new role is a matter of choice for our people.

“We are putting them in touch with Stand, who we understand will be organising a series of meetings next week around the country to discuss details,” says Mrs Akuhata Brown.
