Tuhoronuku Independent Mandated Authority

Ngapuhi settlement entity Tuhoronuku Independent Mandated Authority welcomes Waitangi Tribunal report

Ngapuhi settlement entity Tuhoronuku Independent Mandated Authority (Tuhoronuku IMA) welcomes the Waitangi Tribunal report released today following an urgent hearing held in December 2014 into the Crown’s recognition of the Tuhoronuku mandate.

At a board meeting in Paihia today, Tuhoronuku IMA trustees said they will now spend time assessing and considering the issues raised by the Waitangi Tribunal report to determine how they would contribute to the Ngapuhi mandate.

Since the urgent hearings, there has been a new round of Hapu Kaikorero elections, which have increased the number of hapu represented on Tuhoronuku IMA by 50 percent to 69, with the door always open for further hapu to come on board at any time.
