NZ Bus: Agreement Reached With Unions
[Auckland NZ, 18
April 2016] – After six-months of negotiations, a deal on
driver’s and service staff wages and conditions has been
reached between public transport operator NZ Bus and the
Unions.
Both sides have made concessions to reach an agreement that is workable for all parties. Under the agreement, wages will increase by 2% from November 2015 and a further 2% in November 2016. There are also good concessions provided to drivers around work rules such as rosters, consultation, sick leave and back pay.
Gary Froggatt, President of Auckland Tramways, said “Tramways delegates will be recommending to our members that the offer made by the company is accepted.”
Rudd Hughes, FIRST Union Bus Organiser, added: “Some important progress has been made on non-wage areas and delegates will now be recommending to our members that this offer is ratified.”
Shane McMahon, Chief Operating Officer Northern, said: “We have reached a good agreement which sees a real wage increase for our people. Once ratified this will be a great result for our drivers and customers.”
