MEDIA RELEASE

E tū manufacturing industry agreement ratified

The Metal and Manufacturing Industries Collective Agreement has been ratified with members accepting a 2-year deal including a 2% pay rise this year, and 2% in 2017.

The Agreement, or Metals as it is known, is E tū’s oldest and biggest manufacturing industry agreement and covers more than 600 workers across more than 80 employers.

The agreement has long set the pace for other pay deals in manufacturing, and for other industries and unions.

E tū’s Industry Co-ordinator, Manufacturing, Anita Rosentreter says the deal follows talks in June and July.

She says it has been ratified by the seven original parties to the agreement and “dozens of other companies in manufacturing and related industries have now begun work to ratify the settlement for their workers.”

“With the Consumer Price Index at a mere 0.4% for the past year, the settlement provides real wage growth for these workers”, she says.

She says there is no loss of conditions and other minor improvements have also been made, including in health and safety
