PM Invited to Offset Flights to PI Forum with Pacific Island Rainforest Carbon

New Zealand-based carbon offsetting charity Ekos invites the Prime Minister to offset his flight emissions to and from the Pacific Islands Forum in Micronesia with certified carbon offsets from the Ekos rainforest carbon project in Vanuatu. Ekos Executive Director Dr Sean Weaver said that the Prime Minister can directly help Pacific Island countries to combat climate change by offsetting his flights with Ekos.

“If John Key is serious about wanting to help Pacific Island countries combat climate change he demonstrate it by offsetting his flights with certified carbon offsets from our rainforest carbon project in Vanuatu,” Dr Weaver said.

“We built this project to enable NZ carbon buyers to make a real difference in the region. We also have a rainforest carbon project in Fiji and another in development in the Solomon Islands,” he said. “These are very real climate change solutions available right now to anyone wanting to make a positive difference by offsetting their flights with our projects."

“Our carbon projects stop deforestation and forest degradation by working with indigenous Pacific Island communities to protect their rainforests instead of logging them. This avoids CO2 emissions and helps to build much-needed climate resilience in these communities.”

“Come on John, it will only cost you $31.70 to offset your return flight between Auckland and the Pacific Islands Forum in Micronesia, and you will be helping to save a Pacific Island rainforest at the same time. Your return flight to Wellington every other day will only cost you $4.23 to offset. Give us a call,” Dr Weaver said.
