Strong Local Election Results in Mt Roskill

Strong Local Election Results in Mt Roskill

“The election of Phil Goff as Auckland’s new Mayor is a source of great pride to Mt Roskill, and other local election results in Roskill show that people in our community support strong, progressive, local leadership”, says Labour candidate for Mt Roskill Michael Wood.

“Phil is a Mt Roskill boy through and through. He was raised in Three Kings, went to local schools, and was first elected as our local MP in 1981. His reputation as a hard working local representative is second to none, and he has earned respect from local residents across party lines”

“At a personal level I have greatly valued Phil’s friendship and guidance while he has been the MP for Mt Roskill, and will do everything I can to carry on his legacy of active local representation”

“Results at the Local Board level in Mt Roskill also show that local people support active progressive leadership. The Roskill Community Voice team, which I helped to found in 2010, has had its majority confirmed, and looks set to increase its representation to five out of six positions on the Board (pending Special votes)”

“I have spent the past six years on the Local Board, and have enjoyed the opportunity to serve the local community, advocate on key local issues such as Saving Liston Village, and complete major local park upgrade projects. I know that my Roskill Community Voice colleagues will carry on this work and help to build a proud, progressive, and prosperous Mt Roskill”

“With Phil’s election to the Mayoralty, a by-election in Mt Roskill will be confirmed shortly. I have been campaigning across the electorate since June, and will now be working full-time to win the seat. With the support of local voters I will be a strong voice for our community”, says Michael Wood.
