Botany Labour to Contest Howick Local Board By-Election

PRESS RELEASE - Botany Labour to Contest Howick Local Board By-Election.

Following the resignation of Lucy Schwaner, the wife of the local National Party MP and Campaign Manager of the Vision & Voice (National Party front) Team, Jami-Lee Ross, from the Howick Local Board thus triggering a by-election the Botany Labour Electorate Committee will contest the election.

We campaigned on an open, honest and transparent ticket in the recent elections with progressive and positive policies that were designed to lead Howick and the Botany sub-division to the future. ( http://botanylocalboard.wixsite.com/howicklocalboard/policies )

The resignation of Lucy Schwaner supported our policy position and reasons for opposing the V&V group in the Howick Ward.

Accessibility:
We believe that the local community will be better served if the local board and councillors are more visible and accessible and responsive to the public."

"We would implement a regular Meet the Local Board programme where Board members are available for consultation, discussion and lobbying at local libraries, community halls or markets outside of the formal Board meetings.”

It has become obvious that Howick has been ill served by what has been revealed to be a faction riddden and dysfunctional Local Board that has allowed itself to be bullied and strong armed by an over-reaching Local MP.
Which is why we will run a candidate in the by-election in a bid to restore democracy to the Howick Ward.

Baljit Kaur (Botany LEC Chair)
Alan Papprill (Botany LEC Secretary)
