CEO resignation not enough: blame also lies with Bob Simcock

MEDIA RELEASE

CEO resignation not enough – blame also lies with Bob Simcock
5 October 2017
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The Taxpayers’ Union is calling on Waikato DHB Chairman Bob Simcock to follow his disgraced Chief Executive Dr Nigel Murray and resign following the latter’s unauthorised expenses and international travel.

Jordan Williams, the Taxpayers’ Union’s Executive Director, responding to the news of Dr Murray’s resignation said:

“Bob Simcock was warned about Dr Murray before he was appointed in 2014. Even a quick google search shows a similar pattern of behaviour at his previous position in Canada.”

“Hiring a CEO with a history of dodgy spending is one thing, but not closely monitoring him and having the controls in place to prevent the behaviour repeating is incompetent. That blame lies squarely at the feet of the DHB and Chairman."
