The Great AI Debate

The Great AI Debate - The Impact of AI on news and media creation.

Recently we’ve seen a flurry of fake news created with AI and bots. Technology powered by Artificial Intelligence can publish sports results, financial reports, make Obama say what ever you like and even write opinion pieces for Mike Hosking.

We live in a media landscape where it’s already hard to know who to trust and what stories are real or fake.

Adding Artificial Intelligence and Natural Language Generation to the mix make the whole thing complicated and an ethical nightmare.

On Wednesday May 9th Justin Flitter and NewZealand.AI host The Great AI Debate discussing the impact of AI on news and media creation.

Panelists include experts in AI and Media
• Nigel Parker - Microsoft
• Stu Christie - AI Forum NZ
• Katie Hinsen - Department of Post
• Anchali Anandanayagam - Hudson Gavin Martin
• Cassie Roma - Digital Story Teller
• Issy Fernando - IBM
Josh Drummond - the guy behind the Mike Hosking AI written Opinion Piece will present.

By day Josh Drummond is a writer and content strategist at Xero. During his spare time Josh is experimenting with AI bots. He recently published an opinion piece for Mike Hosking, showcasing just how easy it is to produce (hilariously) fake media.

Josh will present at The Great AI Debate - showcasing the bot and the process he went through to produce the article featured on Newshub here.
