Free Assange NZ solidarity actions for Chelsea Manning

Free Assange NZ solidarity actions for Chelsea Manning at her NZ speaking events - Auckland 8 Sept. and Wellington 9 Sept.

‘Free Assange NZ’ will be showing solidarity for Chelsea Manning outside her NZ talk venues this weekend. “Outside Q Theatre” with Chelsea Manning in Auckland (Sunday 8 September 19.00) and “Outside The Embassy with Chelsea Manning” in Wellington (Saturday 9 September 17.00). There will be musicians, information pamphlets, signs and even the #Unity4J Lion mascot puppet!

‘Free Assange NZ’ will be celebrating their breaking news; the Assange Asylum Parliamentary Petition launched early in July 2018 now has a sponsoring Member of Parliament who has agreed to formally deliver it to the Clerk of the House for allocation to a select committee for formal consideration.

Julian Assange has been illegally detained in the Ecuadorian Embassy in London for 6 years and is currently enduring a solitary confinement which legally meets the definition of torture, as it has now exceeded 162 days or 23 weeks (with 14 days being the legal limit). In this time he has had no access to visitors or internet/phone with his health in serious decline.

Wikileaks, has published 100% truth on torture, war crimes, spying & illegal government behaviour for over 11 years without the need for a single retraction. They are non-partisan and publish accurate verified source documents no matter the country or political party of origin. The United Nations Human Rights Council have ruled that Assange is illegally detained and should be immediately freed & compensated. In other words, the USA, UK & Australia are all disobeying international law.

The debunked Swedish case on Assange (which incredibly, is used as an excuse to ignore human rights) was closed years ago. The Swedish prosecutor heard testimony from Assange and stated in court that 'no criminal activity had occurred'. The two purported complainants stated that police not only made up the charges but that they were railroaded into making a complaint. These facts are seldom conveyed in articles other than within independent media sites.

‘Free Assange NZ’ is part of a growing global movement called Unity4J who support Julian Assange, founder and editor-in-chief of the publishing organisation Wikileaks. The movement has been endorsed by a number of high profile activists, journalists and academics including Chris Hedges and Daniel Ellsberg and they describe themselves as a ‘trans-partisan non-violent online army 2,900 strong and growing by the day’. There are writers, journalists, social media personalities, artists and musicians working together on a encrypted gaming platform at breakneck pace. Their materials and transcripts from online vigils are being transcribed into 35 languages including Te Reo - Maori, and over 153 million have viewed the hash-tag during the campaign so far.
