Taxpayers’ Union recognises rightful Venezuelan leader

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The New Zealand Taxpayers’ Union stands in solidarity with the Venezuelan people today as they courageously protest an authoritarian, socialist government.

Taxpayers’ Union spokesman Louis Houlbrooke says, “For too long, Venezuelans have suffered in hunger and poverty due to the leftist policies of an undemocratic, high-taxing government.”

“As leader of the democratic National Assembly, Juan Guaidó has a legitimate claim to leadership, while Nicolás Maduro clings to power solely on the basis of a rigged election. If Maduro refuses to heed the demands of his people, the Venezuelan military should rethink its allegiance.”
