Alliance Party Announces Key Candidates For Otago Electorates
The Alliance Party has announced the candidacy of Victor Billot for the Dunedin electorate and Anna Knight for the Taieri electorate in the upcoming 2026 General Election.
The move marks the next phase of the party's 2026 campaign following its national relaunch in Christchurch last month.
Alliance candidate for Dunedin, Victor Billot, is the newly elected Leader of the Alliance Party. Billot is a long-time resident of Dunedin and works as the National Communications Officer for the Maritime Union of New Zealand (MUNZ). He was born in Dunedin in 1972 and is a graduate of the University of Otago. He is a well-known local writer. Billot is standing on a platform of providing a democratic socialist alternative to the establishment parties.
Alliance candidate for Taieri, Anna Knight, is a professional translator and local advocate who was elected as Deputy Chairperson to the Waikouaiti Coast Community Board in 2025. She was born in Nelson in 1979 and is a prominent environmental and social justice activist who focuses on the needs of the vulnerable. Knight is a graduate of the University of Otago, and lived in France for twenty years. Her political focus includes transport reform, advocacy for tangata whenua, and social equity.
