Norton AntiVirus for Macintosh
7.0
Norton AntiVirus for Macintosh 7.0 provides users
with automatic virus protection when using the Internet, by
automatically scanning email attachments for viruses. When
an email attachment is downloaded, the auto-protect function
scans for viruses and performs repairs as needed.
Additionally, Norton AntiVirus for Macintosh 7.0 runs
disk scans and repairs files on Mac OS X hard disks after
launching from either a Mac OS 9 partition or the bootable
compact disk that is included with the product. Norton
AntiVirus for Macintosh also continues to support Mac OS 9.1
and 9.
Norton AntiVirus for Macintosh 7.0 also features
new, simplified preferences that allow customers to set
their anti-virus protection at either none, minimal,
standard or full protection levels. Corresponding features
are automatically turned on or off, eliminating the need to
configure each setting by hand and making the utility quick
and easy to set-up and use.
Norton Utilities for
Macintosh 6.0
Norton Utilities for Macintosh 6.0 features
improved data recovery benefits for users. The volume
recovery process will scavenge old directories and rebuild
the catalogue tree to help users recover lost data. A key
component of Norton Utilities for Mac is the Norton
FileSaver feature, which scans hard drives automatically
during idle time, startup or shutdown, and proactively
catches disk damage before it results in data loss.
Customers not already running the Norton FileSaver component
of Norton Utilities for Macintosh 6.0 will experience the
best possible results in recovering data through the
scavenge and rebuild process.
The majority of features in Norton Utilities for Macintosh 6.0 can be run on a MacOS X disk when the user launches the product from a MacOS 9 partition, or from the bootable compact disk. The feature set will also support MacOS 8.1 and 9.
Additionally, customers can add custom optimisation profiles into the Speed Disk application providing them with the ability to create their own profiles or incorporate profiles made by others. This feature offers customers the ability to personally organise the drive for their own individual needs, a valuable capability for those customers spending a lot of time creating and mastering multimedia, digital movies and on-line music (such as MP3), and for games enthusiasts.
