Ihug Launches New FLAT RATE High-Speed Internet

GOOD NEWS for Internet users - high speed Internet access is about to become even more affordable...

Ihug has today announced plans to launch ULTRA LITE, a new low priced high-speed service costing just $49.95 per month.

The new service offers state-of-the-art flat rate broadband access, with no additional hardware costs.

ULTRA LITE will launch on Friday December 1, delivering 256kbps access to residential customers in selected regions throughout the country, via the Ihug transmission towers. Along with all the standard Ihug features, ULTRA LITE will also offer a host of new initiatives such as multicast news and email.

Ihug Director Nick Wood says the new service will provide Internet users will all the benefits of speed, without time restraints or data charges.

"Ihug is already a pioneer of flat rate Internet access," says Mr Wood.

"Our first flat rate broadband product - unveiled several years ago - was the first in New Zealand. ULTRA LITE will continue the trend; delivering real savings and real convenience for Internet users."

Mr Wood says through Ihug, New Zealand is now enjoying some of the world's most cost effective high-speed Internet access.

"If you look at international trends, even the US is relatively expensive. Americans are currently paying up to $US60 to for high-speed connections. New Zealand is doing very well for a country with such a small population. Internet users here have responded well to our innovative flat rate products."

Mr Wood says ULTRA LITE will be the most affordable high-speed service now on offer. It will allow more New Zealanders to enjoy the benefits of (high-speed) broadband.

"Ihug has always been a leader in innovation. We are determined to continue that role; delivering real savings and faster Internet access to consumers,' he says.
