Intel’s Application Service Provider Program

Intel’s Application Service Provider Program Will Be Key Resource For Internet Infrastructure Build-Out

AUCKLAND, Feb. 8, 2001 -- Intel Corporation has announced the launch of the Intel Application Service Provider (ASP) Channel Program, which will provide top-tier ASPs in North America, Europe and Asia with training, matchmaking and co-marketing efforts, as well as other resources to enable rapid adoption of Intel Architecture.

“ASPs will bear a strong influence over the build-out and delivery of next-generation, Internet-based e-Business solutions,” said John Davies, vice president, Intel Solutions Channel Group. “It’s very important that Intel work closely with this key industry group in order to facilitate reliable, scalable, secure and cost-effective solutions on Intel Architecture.”
The ASP program builds on Intel’s long history of success in working with Internet Service Providers (ISPs) and e-Business Solution Providers. The Intel ASP Program will enable Web integrators and ISPs to expand their solution capabilities by working with ASPs to build complete e-Business solutions.

The Intel ASP Program will offer members marketing and business development benefits, participation in seminars and industry events, inclusion in solutions catalogs, and access to Intel’s e-Business Center Web site. In addition, there will be matchmaking opportunities among multiple vendors, including original equipment manufacturers, independent software vendors, ISPs, and other members of the Intel e-Business Network, a worldwide community of industry leaders building Intel Architecture-based e-Business solutions. The Intel ASP Program will also offer members an avenue to seek venture funding from Intel Capital, Intel’s strategic investment group.

“Intel has a network of tens of thousands of dealers around the world through our reseller programs, as well as relationships with thousands of solution providers,” said Davies. “We continue to add value to this network by including Application Service Providers, as the world rapidly adopts e-Business solutions. There is a significant opportunity for exchange of technical information, business development and demand creation among members of this network.”
