FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

gen-i wins Citrix accolade

Internet integrator gen-i¡¦s success in enterprise-scale server-based computing implementations has resulted in it being named the Citrix New Zealand Reseller of the Year.

gen-i has used Citrix in some of its highest profile projects, including Air New Zealand Ansett Group, the Department of Corrections, and State insurance.

gen-i chief executive Garth Biggs said the company¡¦s growing reputation as New Zealand¡¦s leading server-based computing implementer, had lead to a close relationship with Citrix.

¡§For a while now we believed we had the best capacity in New Zealand. It¡¦s great to see that Citrix are saying the same thing,¡¨ he said.

¡§We have had some spectacularly successful projects and are well positioned to continue to do great things in this space.¡¨

gen-i's specialist expertise is in the area of delivering server-based computing solutions for clients with between 250 and 10,000 users.

Nabeel Youakim, managing director Citrix Systems Asia Pacific said gen-i had a special understanding of large server-based computing projects and was reaping the benefits of that market position.

¡§gen-i has been responsible for some of the largest single Citrix implementations in Australasia and we have developed a strong relationship across a range of industry types,¡¨ he said.

gen-i networks manager, David Spratt, said Citrix provided huge savings in capital and support costs for large companies.

Mr Spratt also said server-based computing provided the fundamental basis for plans now being developed by major companies to progress their mobility strategies, taking advantage of the benefits of GPRS, CDMA and upcoming 3G handheld devices.

¡§If the future is mobile, then it will be driven by thin client technology. Many companies that are committed to a mobile strategy have already reached a decision on the strengths of thin client.¡¨

Mr Spratt said gen-i had been successful in large implementations because it had matched its own thin client intellectual property with the Citrix technology. The combined value of our own IP and the Citrix technology has lead to the successes we have had in enterprise scale projects, he said.

Because of its recent successes in Citrix related projects, gen-i is looking for five staff now and additional staff later in the year.

gen-i, already a ¡¥platinum¡¦ member of the Citrix Solution Network„§ received the award at the Citrix Solutions Summit in Sydney.
