National Award for Electronic Forestry Marketplace

Christchurch based company Lignus, has been awarded the prestigious Forest Research Technology Innovation Award, for its electronic forest products trading exchange, at the Forest Industry Engineering Association’s annual conference.

Presented at a ceremony in Nelson late last week, the award recognises companies that have excelled in the New Zealand Forest Products Industry over the past 12 months through innovative use of technology to improve the operating efficiencies and productive capability.

"Receiving this award is a great achievement for Lignus. New Zealand generally leads the world in terms of innovative forest industry technologies, so the level of competition would have been world class," said John McVicar.

The Lignus exchange opened on October 3, 2000 and today is the leading forestry marketplace in the Asia Pacific region. Lignus was created by Christchurch brothers John and Rodney McVicar, fourth generation forest industry professionals and is built using JADE software.
