Fans go online to mourn R&B star

Confirming the observation that a tragic death can be a good career move, Aaliyah Online (www.aaliyahonline.com), a website devoted to R & B singer Aaliyah, rose 327 positions to reach number two in the Hitwise rankings for the ‘Music – Bands and Artists’ category for 27 August following her tragic death in a plane crash in the Bahamas. The singer and actress, who was in Melbourne last year to film Queen of the Damned, also has an official website, Aaliyah 2001 (www.aaliyah2001.com), which rose over 100,000 places in the overall rankings over the weekend to become the number one ‘Music – Bands and Artists’ website on 28 August. Aaliyah Online has currently been replaced with a bulletin board where fans can express their grief.
Fonterra.com debuts in Hitwise rankings
Formed by the merger of New Zealand Dairy Group and Kiwi Co-operative Dairies, the resulting global dairy company, which had been using www.globaldairy.co.nz as an address, has announced that it will be known as Fonterra Co-operative Group. The new company’s website, fonterra.com, entered the Hitwise New Zealand rankings as the fourth most popular website in the ‘Business and Finance – Agricultural’ category on 29 August. Hitwise Click-Stream data shows that much of the traffic to the new site is coming from the old New Zealand Dairy Group site and the major agricultural portals Fencepost.com and RD1.COM, all of which provide links to fonterra.com on their front pages.
