Compaq Provides Real Time Results For Media At Telstra Hyundai New Zealand Open

AUCKLAND, January 10, 2002 - Compaq Computer New Zealand the first associate sponsor of the Telstra Hyundai New Zealand Open has architected an end-to-end technology solution for the event. The solution, which provides an IT Infrastructure for the Unisys Scoring Service includes a network that utilises both wired and wireless technology around the Paraparaumu Beach Golf Course.

The state of the art Compaq Media Centre will provide facilities for accredited media to gain real time access to the Unisys Scoring System. The Compaq infrastructure allows media personnel to connect to a secure network environment for the posting of stories and distribution of photo images. Compaq working in conjunction with Telstra is providing free internet access to the media and connectivity to the Unisys Scoring System for the Open's broadcasters. Up to 50 media are able to work in the Compaq Media centre at a time.

Players and event sponsors are also to benefit from the Compaq solution with a number of access points in the players lounge and sponsor marquees.
