Website a winner for parents

Website a winner for parents

26 January 2003

Parents Centre website (www.parentscentre.org.nz) has been ranked sixth in the Hitwise New Zealand lifestyle-family category. The ranking is based on the number of visits.

"This is good news for us, and good news for parents" said Parents Centre Chief Executive, Sue Fitzmaurice.

"This ranking is a clear indication that parents want to be informed about how they can be better parents and meet the challenges that parenting raises. Our website provides quality information and advice about a whole range of parenting situations and issues," Ms Fitzmaurice said.

"Parents are visiting our website for a whole raft of reasons, from finding out about local courses, to antenatal health, or pre-school learning."

"We have recently re-launched our website to enable parents to move easily around it, when looking for information. The new website also includes material which reflects our lobbying function," said Ms Fitzmaurice.

"Parents Centre is a politically active organisation, keen to keep parents informed about changes which affect them. It is also our job to work with Government, business, and community organisations to promote the needs of today's parents," Ms Fitzmaurice said.

"The web is a great tool for communicating with parents, whose busy lives respond well to the flexibility of the internet. In a techno-literate age, it is important that organisations like PCNZ reflect the needs of the community."
