Top NZ Reunion Site reaches 200,000 members

New Zealand’s largest reunion website, Find a Kiwi celebrated a successful merger with UK giant Friends Reunited in style at the weekend, by reaching a landmark figure of over 200,000 members. The Happy Group Ltd, owners of Friends Reunited announced the takeover in March of this year. The new-look website was launched on Saturday and is enjoying a positive response from its members.

“We have tried to make the transition as easy as possible for our members” explains NZ’s Regional Manager, Jackie Gower. “What we have aimed to achieve is to combine everyone’s favourite existing features from Find A Kiwi with the most popular features from Friends Reunited. Hopefully members will the site as easy to use as ever, and we are planning more pleasant surprises over the next few months!”

With membership still increasing steadily since its launch in early 2002, it is hoped that Find a Kiwi will attain the phenomenal success achieved by its UK counterparts. Friends Reunited UK ( http://www.friendsreunited.co.uk) was launched just three years ago by husband and wife team Steven and Julie Pankhurst and has built up an ever-growing membership of over eight million happily reunited members. The decision was made earlier this year to take the Friends Reunited concept out of Britain, with similarly successful websites also now operating in Australia, South Africa, Italy, Germany, Holland and Spain.

Jackie has a message for those who have yet to join Find a Kiwi. “Our numbers continue to grow day by day, thanks to the support of our members who spread the word. What we try to point out to people is that although they may not be looking for anyone in particular themselves, there is a very good chance that someone is out there looking for them, or someone they know, through the hundreds of messages posted daily on our site. If you don’t visit and read our message boards, you’ll never know!”
