TAKE CONTROL WITH PHILIPS iPRONTO - THE DASHBOARD FOR THE DIGITAL HOME

Philips is extending its portfolio of intelligent display-based wireless devices with the new iPronto, offering consumers the latest in universal remote controls.

The new iPronto combines hardware and software into a single, lightweight and highly portable remote control unit which allows users to control home cinema components, lighting, security cameras, home networks, climate control and other IR/RF/Ethernet-based home applications. It’s revolutionary design also allows the user to access data online or from their PCs.

Jane Waddel, Philips Marketing Manager says that the iPronto makes it easier for people to use the technology in their homes. “People have so many electronic devices in their homes these days, each with their own control panels. Remote controls are easy to misplace and are often frustrating to use, especially when trying to operate multiple devices at one time. The iPronto provides consumers with a single, easy-to-manage platform, meaning users can control the technology in their homes without any hassles”.

The iPronto gives flexibility to control multiple windows of information with simple and instant fingertip dashboard navigation. It features a high-resolution 6.4 inch (16,26 cm) touch screen LCD, combined with a customisable user interface and exterior hard buttons.

Utilizing WiFi, the iPronto can be used throughout the home to control devices and access content. With a broadband Internet connection, iPronto enables access and download of online content such as electronic programme guides, global news, e-mail and favourite websites. And for fast and easy access to content stored on PCs, the iPronto includes a USB connection.

iPronto also features a built-in microphone and stereo speakers so that users can listen to MP3 files from the Internet, or use as a web phone.

The new iPronto complements Philips’ existing Pronto range of universal remote control devices that offer a convenient single solution for controlling audio and video products in the home. The Pronto range contains a comprehensive on-board database of infra-red codes, allowing it to memorise home cinema devices in seconds. The IR code database also learns codes, so it can control both present devices and future devices that are introduced into the home.

The battery powered iPronto includes a charger for topping up the battery quickly and easily, while an integrated flip-out stand provides a convenient rest during usage.

iPronto (SBCRU1000/05) $4499.95
