Automates Compliance With
Critical Security Policies And

Industry-leading Policy Compliance Solution
Simplifies Compliance Process with
Proactive Monitoring
to Pre-Configured Policy Assessment Templates and
Standards
Symantec Corp. (NASDAQ: SYMC), the global leader in information security, today announced Symantec Enterprise Security Manager (ESM) 6.5, which enables organisations to effectively measure the compliance of information systems based on industry, regulatory and corporate security policies and standards. Scheduled to be available at the end of June, the solution also provides the information and intelligence necessary to efficiently remediate non-compliance issues.
“Compliance is a daunting task for enterprises. Already under extreme resource constraints, companies face increased pressure from regulators while conducting business in an ever-changing threat environment,” said Richard Batchelar, country manager at Symantec. “Symantec ESM automates the process by proactively monitoring and measuring the organisation’s compliance to security practices and regulations, ensuring all of their systems are compliant with greater efficiency.”
Government, oversight committees and standards boards now require an unprecedented level of attention on critical issues with respect to data reliability, integrity and security, especially in the context of customer privacy and financial reporting. Failure to comply can result in lost business and customer confidence, in addition to financial and legal liability. As regulation requirements increase, stakeholder demands are also rising. Consumers now look far more closely at a company’s privacy and data protection policies.
Addressing regulatory compliance obligations with respect to information security, data protection, privacy and operational sustainability requires enterprises to implement a comprehensive security strategy. Symantec ESM regularly scans all systems to ensure compliance with stringent regulatory standards, including the new Visa CISP regulation. The solution also offers industry best practice security policies ISO17799/2005 (BASEL II compliant), Centre for Internet Security (CIS) Benchmarks and SANS Top 20. The solution also includes pre-configured policy assessment templates for Sarbanes-Oxley Act, Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA) (NIST 800-53), Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act, Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), North America Electric Reliability Council (NERC).
To ensure maximum protection within the compliance space, organisations can download the most current policy and vulnerability information through Symantec’s LiveUpdate technology and deploy them enterprise-wide through the Symantec ESM console, reducing operating costs and improving resource effectiveness. Backed by Symantec Security Response, the world’s leading internet security research and support organisation, Symantec ESM leverages sophisticated threat and early warning systems to provide customers with comprehensive, global, 24x7 internet security expertise to proactively guard against today’s internet threats.
Symantec ESM also integrates with Symantec Security Information Manager 9500 Series for patent-pending dynamic correlation of compliance information and security intelligence from Symantec DeepSight Threat Management System to help organisations proactively resolve issues before they become a threat to customer privacy and data integrity.
