Press Release

New Zealand video game rental site goes the whole hog!

Gamehog.co.nz is New Zealand's first web-based rental site that's totally dedicated to the game and to bringing game-hungry locals a cheaper way to play.

In New Zealand and around the world, the popularity of video gaming continues to sky rocket . More and more of the population are plugging into this exciting interactive medium and the demand for cheaper access to video games has increased. Gamehog is meeting this demand, giving serious gamers and value conscious purchasers the opportunity to play more games for their money.

The convenience and simplicity of online game rental has made it a big hit overseas ? for a single monthly fee, Gamehog members can access a comprehensive selection of Sony PS2 and Microsoft XBox games including the latest new releases and an impressive back-catalogue of classics and favourites.

There are three rental plans to choose from, all offering unlimited game-play with no return dates, no late fees and the convenience of free delivery, direct to your door ? wherever you are in New Zealand. You can also try the Gamehog experience for free with their two-week trial membership.

Owners, Brett Persson and Alastair White wanted the site to be something the gaming community could really make their own. The site is entirely dedicated to console gaming with over 550 games currently listed and new titles added every week. Not even the largest bricks and mortar rental outlet can match this selection.

Choosing your games couldn't be easier. Subscribers can select games from home or the office, adding titles to their game-queue in order of priority. They can search by platform, genre and can even request a title not listed. Members will find new titles loaded with information including, instructions, screenshots and member reviews.

Gamehog currently rents only PS2 and XBox games but has big plans to stock PSP, XBox 360 and PS3 games as soon as the market demands it. Future site developments also include the addition of a linked Gamehog forum and player profiles.

"It's not just the hard-out gamers who benefit from our offer," explains director Brett Persson. "It's the guy (or girl) whose just too busy to research every game before choosing his next interactive adventure. Gamehog takes the risk out of choosing games. If it's not for you, just send it back and your next available pick is in the mail."

"It's also ideal for families, those mums and dads who are tired of kids nagging or squabbling over which game to buy and shelling out $100 a pop for a new release title. Having multiple games at a time means there is something for everyone and at a fraction of the cost. Now everyone's happy and Dad gets to play something other than Spongebob Squarepants when the kids go to bed," says Brett.

The Hog is out and Gamehog will be touting their offer at Auckland's Armageddon Expo this October and in Wellington next April, their hog mascot promising gamers that you can have your cake, your fast-paced RPG and a racing game just for kicks too.
