Science in the City lecture series looks at clover root weevil

The next of the Science in the City free lecture series being held at Our City O-Tautahi will be presented this Wednesday, 30 August from 1.10-1.50pm by Mark McNeill, a research entomologist from AgResearch in Lincoln.

Mr McNeill will speak about clover root weevil, a new pest that has arrived in Canterbury; he will also discuss a remedy for it.

Clover root weevil is an unwanted overseas arrival. And like varroa mite, it has the potential to have a significant impact on Canterbury farming. However an Irish import, a parasitoid wasp, may be the natural answer to this problem.

Science in the City is a free series of lunchtime lectures brought to you by Our City O-Tautahi and the Canterbury Branch of the Royal Society. Bring your lunch and learn more about scientific issues affecting you, your community and your environment.

- Our City O-Tautahi is on the corner of Oxford Terrace and Worcester Boulevard.
