Seeing Weather Through The Eyes

recent World Meteorological Organization (WMO) publication
showing a collection of child weather art from around the
globe.
Kate Lund was five years old when she entered a weather drawing class held in Wellington during the school holidays on a wet July day in 2006. This was part of MetService's sponsorship of an exhibition of paintings at Te Papa that included cloudscapes painted by the British artist, John Constable. Kate's drawing was one of three sent to WMO in Geneva and was chosen by an international jury to be included in their publication of child art.
MetService General Manager of National Weather Services, and New Zealand's Permanent Representative with WMO, Rod Stainer, presented a copy of the WMO child art book to the Lund family at a special ceremony held in Wellington on Thursday.
"It is refreshing and invigorating for professional meteorologists to browse through this book and see weather through the eyes of a child", said Mr. Stainer.
