NZ Recipe App Beating Jamie, Nigella (and kamasutra sex)

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Beating Jamie, Nigella (and kamasutra sex)

New Zealand’s first recipe application for the iPhone and iPad was launched just 24 hours ago and is already the Number 1 paid app in the Lifestyle section of the NZ app Store, “We’re absolutely stoked to see New Zealanders lapping up the app” say the founders of “Fast, Fresh & Tasty” (Emily Loughnan and Karin Grice)

This position means that “Fast, Fresh & Tasty”, in it’s first day of release was more popular to kiwis than both the Jamie Oliver and Nigella Lawson recipe apps. The application iKamasutra is the third most popular in this category.

The app is the first one to be made just for the NZ market, and is all about ideas for weeknight dinners. “Most New Zealanders have between 5 and 7 dishes that they cook most nights. This app aims to extend that repertoire and get people trying more local food; new ingredients and new flavours”

“We’ve done a significant amount of testing, and our latest testers took our app home for a week and when they reported back, they rated our app as good as or better than Jamie Oliver’s” says Emily Loughnan, CEO of Click Suite who created the app. “I’m sure that a large part of its success is that it is local, it’s about us, and our food”

Testers also loved the seasonality of the application, which promises free seasonal updates highlighting what’s in season right now. “A range of exciting new recipes, able to be browsed in seconds and turned into a shopping list ready for dinner tonight. Locally made and seasonal and most importantly, delicious.” said Laura, a Wellington user of the app.

Other testers commented: “Can see myself using it and anticipating eagerly next season’s recipes”; “I can't wait. I reckon this one's something a bit new, a bit innovative, and having used it, it's mandatory for the app collection.”

“There’s no doubt Jamie’s HUGE in the food space, but our research just goes to show that kiwis love to hear their own voice, and to have media made for them” says Loughnan

The next steps for Emily Loughnan & Karin Grice are to take the model and apply to other regions around the world. “We’ll add in their local products and flavours and teach the world to cook delicious things with what’s around them”

The app has been designed and built by the multi award-winning digital team at Click Suite, who have been creating interactive media for 17 years.
