Heavy rain warning #1 6.30am

Heavy rain warning #1 6.30am

We're back into severe weather warning mode on the Coromandel. The warning from Metservice is for localised heavy rain falls until midday at least.

Showers are likely through the rest of Friday, but intensities should significantly decrease from afternoon.

With all the rain over the last few days the ground is pretty saturated already, we expect this rain to cause surface flooding in some areas.

Tides:
Thames Fri 30 High Tide 7:30am 3.7m
Whitianga Fri 30 High Tide 7:23 2.0m

NZTA currently show all state highways open but a few cautions in place:

·SH25 Thames Coast – Slips – Extra caution stop/go just north of Tararu
SH25A Kopu-Hikuaia - Slips
For updates refer www.nzta.govt.nz

We could also get more slips. Civil Defence advises that if you're driving, plan your trip accordingly - be careful and plan for possible delays.

Watch Metservice (www.metservice.com) for weather updates, NZTA for state highway roading updates (www.nzta.govt.nz/traffic/

) and us for TCDC roads, water, and rubbish/recycling updates. We'll post most frequently on our Facebook page www.facebook.com/ThamesCoromandelDistrictCouncil/ and also post updates on our webpage www.tcdc.govt.nz
