Webb Ellis Cup on Show at MEETINGS
2010
Auckland, 11 May, 2010 – The
actual silverware that is up for grabs at next years’
Rugby World Cup in New Zealand will be on display at
MEETINGS 2010.
Hospitality NZ 2011 – The Official Corporate Hospitality Agent to Rugby World Cup 2011 has arranged for the Webb Ellis Cup to feature on their stand at MEETINGS 2010 next month.
Justin Ellis, Sales and Marketing Manager of Hospitality NZ 2011 says “Our company is really excited to have access to the cup and be able to display it at MEETINGS 2010 where it may be the only opportunity many people will have to view it in their lives”.
The annual MEETINGS exhibition is being held at Auckland's SKYCITY Convention Centre and is an opportunity for suppliers and operators of a diverse range of venues, products and services to meet with conference and incentive travel planners.
The 38 centimetre high, gilded silver trophy will sit between the Experience Group and Hospitality NZ 2011 stands where MEETINGS 2010 delegates will have the opportunity to get a close up look at it.
The Web Ellis Cup is the most prized award in the rugby world. It was named after William Webb Ellis – a pupil at Rugby School in Warwickshire England, who allegedly invented rugby in 1823 when he picked up a soccer ball and ran with it.
New Zealand was the first nation to win the Web Ellis Cup when it was commissioned for the 1987 Rugby World Cup. South Africa was the last nation to win it in 2007. Only official hospitality agents or major sponsors of the Rugby World Cup can apply for access to it.
Hospitality NZ 2011 (www.hospitlitynz2011.co.nz) – a joint venture between Eden Park, Auckland Rugby and the Experience Group - is a New Zealand-based Official Hospitality agent who provide complete hospitality packages, including travel to New Zealand, quality accommodation, special hospitality packages at the games and travel and activities throughout the country.
