Murph and V8SuperTourers head to CRC Speedshow

15 July 2011

Murph and V8SuperTourers head to CRC Speedshow with special ticket offer

V8 racing star Greg Murphy and other drivers confirmed to race in the all-new V8SuperTourer series starting in February are heading to New Zealand’s biggest motoring and motorsport expo, CRC Speedshow, in July with a very special ticket offer for fans.

Series promoters V8SuperTourers Ltd are offering fans the chance to buy two tickets for the price of one for the inaugural race meeting of the V8SuperTourers at Hampton Downs over the weekend of 17 to 19 February 2012 – and the offer is only available at CRC Speedshow.

“This is the premiere of a completely new form of V8 touring car racing in New Zealand and we want Kiwi V8 touring car enthusiasts to have the opportunity to be part of motor racing history when all 16 cars line up for that very first race on Saturday 18 February,” says V8ST spokesman and competitor John McIntyre, of Nelson.

McIntyre joins Greg Murphy and several other confirmed V8ST drivers at CRC Speedshow at the ASB Showgrounds in Auckland’s Greenlane on 23 and 24 July. Fans can make the most of the special two-for-one ticket offer, hear more about the series and see the already-proven prototype V8ST race car.

McIntyre says general admission adult tickets for the February event at Hampton Downs have been priced at $30 each. Children aged 15 years and under are free when accompanied by a paying adult.

“It’s a great chance to get your freshly-purchased ticket signed by Murph and create your own piece of motor racing history!

“Not only can V8 touring car fans save 50% on a two-ticket purchase, we’ll be putting all ticket buyers into a special prize draw to win a ride in the V8ST prototype race car before the end of the year,” says McIntyre. “One lucky winner will be drawn each day at CRC Speedshow.”

McIntyre also confirms that the opening round on 17 to 19 February will feature three V8ST races with support classes now scheduled to include the Central Muscle Car series.

“V8SuperTourers can let fans know that the first support category to be confirmed are the popular, ground shaking, V8 muscle cars of the Central Muscle Car series. A full field of Mustangs, Camaros, Corvettes, Falcons, HQs and more will add plenty of excitement to the premiere event with 4 races over Saturday and Sunday.

“Our February event offers Kiwi race fans the chance to witness the best V8 touring cars ever seen in New Zealand at their very first race meeting. These are the fastest V8 touring cars ever to race at Hampton Downs and this circuit is just fantastic in our V8SuperTourer, so as a driver, I can’t wait!

“We’re really looking forward to seeing lots of fans at CRC Speedshow on 23 and 24 July, so catch you there!”

CRC Speedshow runs for two days, Saturday 23 July and Sunday 24 July, with tickets available only at the gate. The show opens at 9am each day, closing at 6pm on Saturday and 5pm on Sunday. Adult tickets are $18.50 each, children aged 10 to 15 years $10 each, and children under 10 years of age free with a paying adult. A family pass offers great value at $48 for two adults and up to three children. News, competitions and show information is updated on the show’s website, www.speedshow.co.nz, and Facebook page on a regular basis.
