GIUSEPPE PINTO, AS NUNCIO (AMBASSADOR) IN SENEGAL AND
APOSTOLIC DELEGATE IN MAURITANIA. PINTO IS CURRENTLY THE
ARGENTINA-CHILE DESK OFFICER AT THE VATICAN FOREIGN OFFICE.
HE WAS BORN IN 1952 AND ORDAINED A PRIEST IN 1978. MONSIGNOR

PINTO HOLDS A DOCTORAL DEGREE IN CANON (CHURCH) LAW, AND
ENTERED THE VATICAN'S DIPLOMATIC SERVICE IN 1984. HE HAS
SERVED AT THE VATICAN'S MISSIONS IN PAPUA NEW GUINEA AND IN
ARGENTINA. AS WELL AS HIS NATIVE ITALIAN, PINTO SPEAKS
FRENCH, SPANISH AND ENGLISH. MONSIGNOR PINTO WILL BE
ORDAINED AN ARCHBISHOP PRIOR TO TAKING UP HIS APPOINTMENT.
